When applying the new shingles each shingle course will be covered by a step flashing.

Next lay the first full row of shingles so they re directly covering the starter row.

Mark 12 inches up on the roof for the first course of shingles then mark every 5 inches all the way up the roof to set your reveal.
Nail the shingles with no tabs such as precut pro start shingles and apply asphalt cement from a caulk gun in many dots along the drip edge under the edge then press the tab less shingles down onto the line of asphalt cement dots with adequate spaces between the dots.
Do the same with the next shingle continuing this step until you get to the far edge of the ridge.
You may need to cut panels to fit angles using a circular saw with a metal saw blade.
The silicone will spread and adhere creating a seal.
Once you ve reached the ridge bend the shingle over the ridge so that each side is equal and nail it into place with a single nail on each side.
